Panel Session

Panel: Do You Really Need a Supercomputer To Do Supercomputing? Moderator: Guy Robinson (ARSC)

When the term "supercomputing" was first coined, supercomputers were rare exotic beasts few researchers could access. Today the term is not only applied to such leading edge exotica, but also to machines using commodity off-the-shelf technologies that provide significant computing resources. The panel, consisting of leaders from vendors, industrial users, and research centers, will debate what defines supercomputing for them, the challenges of using/supporting a supercomputer, and what they hope for in the future. Questions and opinions from the audience are strongly encouraged.
