Purpose | Media Groups and fallback mechanism in DMF-daemon to handle MSP failures |
Package type | modset |
Application area | operating system |
Abstract | Fallback mechanism enables the DMF-daemon to handle MSP failures. When a MSP in unable to migrate a file, this would result in a failed put request. If Media Groups are defined, the fallback mechanisme provides a method to migrate to another MSP. |

Additional comments | In Sara's data migration environment, we have an FTP-MSP as primary MSP. Since this is an network MSP, and therefore potentially unreliable, we use Media Groups as a method to fallback upon Cray's tape msp (dmtpmsp) on network failures. DDocumantation consists of a Readme File in ascii format. It could be sent upon request. |
