| Title | dmtaperepair |
| Revision | April 1998 |
| Purpose | make new copies of the bitfiles on a damaged tape |
| Package type | script |
| Application area | Utilities |
| Abstract | If a tape gets damaged there is a copy less of each bitfile on this tape. In case of 2 msp's (Media Specific Process) only one copy remains. This increases the likelyhood of data loss dramatically. The program dmtaperepair can be used to - delete the bitfiles the damaged tape contains from the DMF/VOL database in the msp of the damaged tape, - make a new copy of each concerned file in the msp of the damaged tape - and to check the success of these actions. |
