CSAR is a consortium, brought about to provide High Performance Computing to the UK academic community.

CSAR consists of:

• The University of Manchester.
  • Provide the home for the machine
  • Provides the staff

• CSC are a large commercial outfit
  • provide system management

• Sgi provide the hardware

• Cfs are the umbrella for the consortium
  • has no staff of its own.
