Local Arrangements

Conference Location

Our conference hotel is the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid North. From the hotel web site

The Marriott Albuquerque Pyramid North is a "Santa-Fe", southwestern-style hotel featuring an open ten-story atrium with a rock waterfall and lush greenery. Located on I-25 in the Journal Center Business Complex and minutes from Historic Old Town, the Sandia Tram, and the ABQ Airport. All guest rooms feature high-speed internet access, two-line phone with dataport, voicemail, coffeemaker, hairdryer, iron and remote-control cable television with pay-per-view movies and WebTV. Over 54 two-room suites and a concierge level with upgraded rooms and private lounge. Facilities include a restaurant and a lobby lounge, Business Center, indoor/outdoor pool, fitness room, gift shop and over 27,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.

Tour Schedule

If you will be taking the tour of Sandia National Laboratories, you will have a choice of either Tuesday or Thursday from 3:45-5:45.

Conference Dining Services

Breakfast, Lunch, and Refreshments

The Registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon refreshments each day for the duration of the conference. CUG 2005 starts on Monday morning May 16 and ends Thursday afternoon May 19, 2005.

Special accommodations and/or dietary requirements should be noted on the Conference registration form.

On-Site Facilities

Messages

During the conference (May 16-19), telephone messages will be taken at the on-site CUG Conference Office.

Faxes

A fax machine is available at the hotel business office for conference-related business. Incoming fax messages may be sent to the CUG Conference Office eFax™ account at . Notices of incoming fax messages will be posted on the conference message board.

E-mail and Personal Computers

An E-mail room will be equipped with a limited number of personal computers. SSH will be available on all systems. There will be a laser printer on the LAN as well. One of the personal computers and the printer are designated for the use of speakers for last minute changes to presentations. You may also bring your laptop computer to the E-mail room and either connect to an Ethernet hub or use wireless LAN, 802.11b/g compatible cards for access to the LAN and the Internet. Please note that you must provide wireless 801.11b/g compatible cards and power supplies required for your laptop. The Ethernet hub accepts RJ-45 modular jacks. The E-mail room will not be available after 4 PM on Thursday.

Speaker Preparation

We invite speakers to use the personal computer and the printer in the E-mail room for last minute changes. We will provide video projectors in all technical and general session rooms. Please find time before sessions and during breaks to test your laptop connection to the video projectors. Please come to the Conference Office if you need assistance.

If you plan to distribute copies of your presentation, please bring sufficient copies with you. You may also have copies made at the hotel business office for a charge.

Voltage

The United States operates on a 120V system; those traveling from outside the US may need an adaptor. Check the Voltage Valet for information on requirements and to find adapters.

Special Assistance

Any requests for special assistance during the Conference should be noted on the "Special Requirements" area of the registration form, or you may contact the Local Arrangements Committee.

Smoking Policy

There is no smoking allowed at the Conference.

 Social Events

Cray Inc. Reception

Cray Inc. will host a reception one evening. All conference participants and their guests are invited to attend. Details will be provided at a later date.

CUG Night Out

¡Bienvenidos Amigos! Welcome friends!

On Wednesday, all attendees are invited to enjoy a night out organized by the Local Arrangements Committee. The CUG Night Out will be at El Pinto Restaurant and Cantina which is about 10 minutes from the hotel.

Mariachi Tenampa will sing and play as they stroll among you.

The menu will be a Mexican buffet with items like: Tossed salad with vinaigrette, Red Chili Cheese Enchiladas, Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas, Aztec corn, Beans, Rice, Roasted New Potatoes, Single-meat carving station (choice of honey-glazed ham, oven-roasted turkey, herb-rubbed pork or round of beef) and Flan for dessert. Also included are Tostadas and Jalapeno salsa, Sopapillas and honey, and beverages (tea, coffee and sodas).

There will be demonstrations of making Indian bread on a Kiva oven, Guacamole, and roasted chili…un poco caliente, fun to learn, and equally fun to sample!!
