Arriving by Plane

Edinburgh is served by an international airport with daily scheduled flights to all of Europe’s main airports as well some US destinations. For more information, please visit the Edinburgh Airport website.

Travelling to the Conference Venue

From the airport, there are two options for travelling to the conference venue:

  • By taxi: this will cost between £15 and £20 and will take approximately 20 minutes, depending on time of day and traffic.
  • By bus: Airlink operates an express shuttle service between the airport and Edinburgh city centre. A single journey costs £3.50, a return journey (round trip) is £6. The bus terminates at Edinburgh Waverley station, which is a very short walk to the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel.
  • For travel information, directions to the hotel, and a map of Edinburgh, go to the Apex Hotels website.

A single journey costs £1.20 and an unlimited travel day pass costs £3. Please note that you need to have the exact fare as bus drivers are not able to give change!

Attractions

Edinburgh is famous for its spectacular city landscape and world-class attractions:

The 2010 CUG Night Out will be a dinner at The Hub on the Royal Mile, close to Edinburgh Castle. The Hub was built in the middle of the 19th century as the Assembly Hall for the Church of Scotland.
