Hazra, Rajeeb · more Rajeeb Hazra (Intel) Rajeeb Hazra is vice president of the Data Center Group and general manager for the Enterprise and High Performance Computing (HPC) Platform Group at Intel Corporation. He is responsible for leading Intel’s Enterprise IT and Technical Computing solutions segments in the data center.
Before assuming his current position, Hazra was the director of Supercomputing Architecture, where he was responsible for strategic research and development engagements with Intel's supercomputing customers. Earlier in his Intel career, he served as the director of the Systems Technology Lab in Intel Labs (then called the Corporate Technology Lab), where he oversaw R&D in hardware and software-related systems technologies. Hazra also previously served as technical assistant to Intel's chief technology officer. He joined Intel in 1994 as a software engineer in Intel Architecture Labs, working on video compression/decompression technologies. Before coming to Intel, Hazra was with the Lockheed Engineering and Sciences Company based at NASA's Langley Research Center.
Hazra holds 16 patents in signal processing and has contributed numerous technical publications to refereed technical journals and conferences. He was honored with an Intel Achievement Award in 2000 for breakthroughs in multiple generations of industry-leading video-compression technologies.
Hazra earned his bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from Jadavpur University, India. He also holds a master's degree in computer science and a Ph.D. in computer science, both from The College of William & Mary. | Is Cloud A Passing Fancy? · view |

Rabier, Florence · more Florence Rabier (ECMWF - European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) Florence Rabier first joined the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) as a consultant during her PhD in 1991, then as a scientist in data assimilation for 6 years in the 1990s. She came back from Météo-France in October 2013 to take up the position of Director of the newly formed Forecast Department. She is the Director General of ECMWF since January 2016.
Dr Rabier is also an internationally recognised expert in Numerical Weather Prediction, whose leadership has greatly contributed to delivering major operational changes at both ECMWF and Météo France. Dr Rabier is especially well known within the meteorological community for her key role in implementing a new data assimilation method (4D-Var) in 1997, which was a first worldwide. Her career so far has taken her back and forth between Météo France and ECMWF.
Dr Rabier has experience in both externally-funded and cross-departmental project management. She led an international experiment involving a major field campaign over Antarctica, in the context of the International Polar Year and THORPEX. Steve Scott serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, responsible for guiding the long-term technical direction of Cray’s supercomputing, storage and analytics products. Dr. Scott rejoined Cray in 2014 after serving as principal engineer in the platforms group at Google and before that as the senior vice president and chief technology officer for NVIDIA’s Tesla business unit. Dr. Scott first joined Cray in 1992, after earning his Ph.D. in computer architecture and BSEE in computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was the chief architect of several Cray supercomputers and interconnects. Dr. Scott is a noted expert in high performance computer architecture and interconnection networks. He holds 35 U.S. patents in the areas of interconnection networks, cache coherence, synchronization mechanisms and scalable parallel architectures. He received the 2005 ACM Maurice Wilkes Award and the 2005 IEEE Seymour Cray Computer Engineering Award, and is a Fellow of IEEE and ACM.
